Nanotecture is focused on the development of unique nano-scale architectures in the form of nanoporous powders. These patented materials significantly improve the power and energy densities of batteries. This is of particular importance for portable electronics where the increase in the number power-hungry applications is leading to what has become known as “the run-time gap”. More powerful and higher energy batteries are also needed by the automotive industry for electric and hybrid vehicles; this demand is unlikely to be satisfactorily met without the advent of new battery chemistries and materials.

The key features of our materials are as follows:

  • Nanotecture’s materials are NOT nano-particulate
  • Particle sizes are measured in microns NOT nanometres
  • Nanotecture’s powders do NOT suffer from the health hazards associated with nano-scale particles
  • Traditional handling techniques can be used
  • The pores in the materials ARE measured in nanometres
  • Usable surface area is 100 times greater than ‘standard’ materials
