Bill Campbell
Chief Executive Officer

Bill has a wealth of Chief Executive and Commercial experience gained over the past 25 years.  Prior to Nanotecture he was CEO at both Splashpower, a wireless power technology company, and Microemissive Displays (MED), a developer of P-OLED microdisplays.  In both cases Bill led the commercial development of the company through IP licensing, in the case of Splashpower, and product with MED.  Bill has raised venture capital finance and lead the successful public listing on AIM of MED in 2004.

Before moving to his first CEO position, Bill had 20 years of commercial success with a number of electronics based companies – IP licensing of microprocessors with Tensilica, Design Automation, most notably with Synopsys, and Automatic Test Equipment with GenRad.  At various times in each of these companies he served as both an Individual Sales Contributor and General Manager.

Bill holds a BScElectEng from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
 

 

Professor Philip Bartlett Professor Philip Bartlett
Chief Scientist

Philip is professor of electrochemistry at the university of Southampton and deputy head of the of Chemistry responsible for research.  He has a 1st class honours degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Electrochemistry from Imperial College, London. 

He is a vice president of the International Society of Electrochemistry, chair of the RSC Electrochemistry Group and a member of Faraday Council of the RSC.  He is a frequently invited speaker at international meetings and has published over 170 papers in the area of electrochemistry.

 

Dr Phillip Nelson
Technical Manager

Phil is responsible for the delivery of Nanotecture’s R&D programmes and management of its intellectual property portfolio. He was an inventor of Nanotecture’s supercapacitor technology while at the University of Southampton.

He has over 8 years experience in the development of electrochemical power sources, working in corporate R&D at Johnson Matthey prior to joining Nanotecture.

Phil has a PhD in Chemistry awarded by the University of Southampton (United Kingdom) and a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Chemistry from the University of Queensland (Australia).       

 

Martin Vanhinsbergh
Manufacturing Manager

Martin Vanhinsbergh has over twenty years experience in battery manufacturing technology, with formal training in Lean Manufacturing and Business Excellence skills.

Martin worked at DSB Special Batteries Ltd as the Manufacturing / Engineering Manager and at AEA Technology Battery Systems as the Manufacturing Director. Prior to joining Nanotecture, he was the Manufacturing Manager at Time 24 Ltd (leading suppliers of cable and harness assemblies and integrated electronics systems), with responsibilities in HR, Procurement, Logistics, Stores, Off-site contracts teams, Site Services, and the Manufacturing Operations over two sites.

He holds a Management qualification with NEBSM where he won a regional award, as well as engineering qualifications with the City and Guilds of London Institute following a formal engineering apprenticeship at Duracell.

 

 

 

 

Mike Dann
Product Development Manager

Originally from South Africa, Mike founded and ran his own business for more than 20 years. He has been intimately involved in the design, development and manufacture of more than 130 products, mainly in the process instrumentation sector, but including various electrochemical laboratory instruments.

Mike holds BSc. and MSc. Electrical Engineering degrees from the University of Cape Town and has spent some time over the past five years working on co-operative projects with various universities and research laboratories in South Africa and the USA.

Tim Hilton
Chief Financial Officer

Tim Hilton graduated in Accounting at Portsmouth University and then moved to London and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990.  He joined The Britt Allcroft Group Limited (renamed Gullane Entertainment plc) in 1991.  Tim was responsible for all aspects of the finance and company secretarial functions in the UK as well as the overseas operations.  The company went through a period of sustained growth and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1996.  Tim was a key member of the flotation team and was subsequently appointed Group Finance Director in 1997.

He was then involved in the further significant growth of the group via a series of acquisitions made since flotation which totalled around £70m.  Since leaving Gullane at the end of 2001, Tim has acted as a consultant CFO to a number of businesses in the media, telecom, IT and technology sectors.
