Bill led the commercial development of both companies, through IP licensing in the case of Splashpower and through product development in the case of MED, raising venture capital finance and leading the successful public listing of MED on AIM in 2004.
Before moving to his first CEO position, Bill had 20 years of commercial success with a number of electronics based companies – IP licensing of microprocessors with Tensilica, Design Automation, most notably with Synopsys, and Automatic Test Equipment with GenRad. At various times in each of these companies he served as both an Individual Sales Contributor and General Manager.
Bill holds a BScElectEng from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
His career began at the Research Centre of Alcan International Ltd, progressing to roles as Project Leader with Hydro-Quebec Research Institute, Technology Director with Avestor, Research and Engineering Director with ABB Process Analytics, General Manager and CEO of Energy-Hydrogen Inc, and Senior Consultant for Technology and Management with In-Dev Inc.
Gilles holds a PhD in Energy Sciences (Electrochemistry) from Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Canada, in collaboration with University of California, Davis, and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from University of Sherbrooke, Canada. He is author of numerous industrial publications and of four patents in electronic design for instrumentation, measurement methods and sensor manufacturing process.
Following a period of sustained growth, the company was floated on the London Stock Exchange and, under Tim’s aegis as Group Finance Director, registered further significant growth via a series of major acquisitions. Tim then joined with a small group of chartered accountants to found Avonglen Ltd, a successful Southampton-based company providing business advice and financial management services to growing businesses.
At Avonglen, Tim has acted as a consultant CFO to a number of technology-based businesses. He has worked closely with Nanotecture in this capacity for a number of years.
Tim has a degree in Accounting from Portsmouth University and qualified as a chartered accountant in London.
Most recently he was Group Managing Director of Linx Printing Technologies plc, where he led the rapid growth of the business into worldwide markets from 1995 until prior to its successful sale in 2004. Before that, Michael served in senior executive roles at Lucas Diesel Systems, Renold plc and John Brown plc.
Michael has a degree in engineering and an MBA from London Business School.
Other senior management positions include Managing Director of Global Communications, a privately-held supplier of satellite communications accessories for the consumer market. In this role Rob grew the business rapidly, overseeing outsourced manufacturing in China and implementing a company-wide structure, underpinned by reliable systems and procedures, to improve efficiency. From 1995 to 2004, Rob was European Managing Director, of OK International, a global supplier of soldering equipment to the electronics industry. Here Rob spearheaded the integration of two companies following an acquisition and developed new pan-European distribution channels.
